I like my Sketchers…

My kids are learning about food in both English and Science. The only grammar they need to know in English is, “Can I have a(n)/some ____, please?”, but I am the most exigente teacher ever and make them ask for everything in English.

So I amped it up, asking them to start distinguishing between I like and I love and I don’t like/I hate.

I wanted to use this video, but figured it would be too tough:

Instead, they folded a sheet of paper into four parts and labeled them, I LOVE, I LIKE, I DON’T LIKE, I HATE, filling in the blank and drawing the word.

I got everything from I love football to I hate football, got one I don’t like Engliss (typo intentional, here) and I don’t like pizza (who are youuuu?).

My favorite is below:

  1. Awwwwwwww! <3

  2. So funny! I might steal that folding paper idea…! I rarely get an “I don’t like Pizza” here but I get way too many kids telling me they don’t like cake! They need to try American birthday cakes IMO!!!

    • All yours, dear! My kids still loev to draw, so adding that element made the lesson successful…then, in my second class, one girl admitted her crush, and the object of her affection started crying!! Don’t use, “I love Alejandro” as an example…better to stick to “I love American birthday cake.”

  3. Awwww I love it! Love the heels too! :)

    • From the teacher who wears heels to class once a month!! I loved that touch, too. Another girl told me I’m prettier when I wear heels, but working with kids for eight hours a day takes its toll on your feet! Hope all is well, Patti!

  4. I’m glad you connected this to 10 Things I Hate About You. I’m whelmed by this entry.
